LA 2028 is a non-profit public benefit corporation. The specific purpose of the organization is to improve and enhance the quality of life of the residents of the City of Los Angeles, California, and the surrounding metropolitan area through the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Its core activities include: (1) planning, organization, financing, promotion, sponsorship, hosting and staging the Games, (2) raising funds to be used to plan, organize, finance, promote, sponsor, host or stage the Games, and (3) creating and implementing sustainability and legacy programs for the Games.
United States Olympic and Paralympic Properties (USOPP) is a commercial joint venture between the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2028 (LA 2028) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). The USOPP is the sole entity charged with marketing and selling combined commercial assets, including rights to the 2022, 2024, 2026 and 2028 U.S Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
Director, Commercial Asset Development
As LA28 continues to grow our Sponsor portfolio, the Director of Commercial Asset Development will lead the development of new and evolved rights, benefits, assets, and programs for Sponsors and Prospects of LA28/Team USA.


  • Value and Values Driven: This role requires an ability to understand our partners' business and sponsorship objectives in order to create innovative and impactful assets that leverage the Olympic and Paralympic brand to serve those objectives.
  • Equal Parts Dreamer and Doer. The position calls for a mix of right brain and left brain. Analytical thinking and a data-driven mindset is required to audit and analyze current offerings and those out in the marketplace, while creativity and big picture thinking are critical to developing new and/or refreshed solutions.
  • Symphony Conductor. As part of a large and complex Olympic and Paralympic ecosystem, this position will be instrumental in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to: internal verticals (Sales, Marketing, Impact, Games Delivery), as well as Team USA, the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, National Governing Bodies and athletes.

    This role reports directly to the SVP, Commercial Partnerships.
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Have a relentless curiosity to examine and understand the business and competitive landscape of our Partners and Prospects, in order to develop commercial assets & programs that efficiently and effectively reach their target audiences (at scale) and seamlessly support revenue-driving initiatives.
    • Function as a thought leader with significant knowledge of all aspects of marketing and sponsorship activation, including cutting edge techniques to engage and excite both a B2B and B2C consumer.
    • Capable of analyzing and resolving complex questions with graceful, simple solutions or nuanced resolutions as needed.
    • Have a passion for Athlete empowerment as a key lens through which to authentically integrate Partners and support Olympic/Paralympic Athletes.
    • Be a student of our fans and consumers - their trends, culture and engagement points. Listen, learn and mine insights, internally and externally, to direct the property and our partners into amazing places.
    • Collaborate with Sales, Brand, Marketing, Engagement, Research & Measurement, and Partnership Management teams to create and deliver the highest quality and strategically sound experiences.
    • Work in partnership with the LA28 and USOPC Marketing teams to ensure that agreed upon assets, platforms, and programs are executed per Partner agreements.
    • Write conceptual content, drive presentation development, present to C-level executives, and join in negotiations for final offering.
    • Communicate with teams on scheduling of projects.
    • Other duties as required.

      Background and Requirements:

      • 10+ years of Brand-side or Property-side experience, with understanding of the commercial complexities and opportunities across League-Team-Athlete stakeholder groups.
      • Experience working with Fortune 500 companies, preferably in the sponsorship/marketing/experiential space.
      • Previous experience in the Olympic and/or Paralympic movement(s) strongly preferred.
      • Proven track record of developing and executing activation, marketing, experiential, digital, or other programs and/or assets that have yielded greater ability for Partners to leverage sponsorship assets, and have proven to yield positive business results for Partners.
      • Champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by ensuring all sponsorship and marketing assets authentically represent and engage diverse audiences, including Olympic and Paralympic athletes and their communities.
      • Prior experience in Media beneficial.
      • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, under tight deadlines.
      • A love for pop culture and of learning new ways of doing things.
      • Deep and recent knowledge of the growing technology landscape.
      • Experience delivering strong and convincing opinions and recommendations to senior-level executives.
      • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to understand, analyze, present, and report data effectively.
      • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).

        Leadership

        • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to author and design presentations.
        • Leadership experience while also having the ability to roll up your sleeves and work in the trenches.
        • Self-starter with excellent prioritization skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, results focused environment.

          Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

          • Ability to work in an office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA.
          • The majority of work may be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
          • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed.

            The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
